Municipal leaders will explore the crucial issue of PEI land use at the Semi-Annual Meeting of the Federation of PEI Municipalities.
The meeting will be hosted by the City of Summerside at Credit Union Place Saturday, Oct. 14, 9 am to 2:30 pm.
Rethinking Land Use on PEI will provide an update on the State of the Island Report, which will be used to inform a provincial land use plan. The session will also include alternative perspectives on PEI land use, and a chance for questions. To date, speakers include the following:
- Megan Williams, manager of planning with the Department of Housing, Land and Communities
- Satyajit Sen, policy and special projects advisor, Federation of PEI Municipalities
- Matt Pelletier, policy researcher
The morning will also include an engaging and unique look at climate change. Stephanie Arnold, strategy and programs manager and PEI climate services specialist at CLIMAtlantic, will present on Finding Hope in Municipal Climate Action.
Honourable Rob Lantz, Minister of Housing, Land and Communities, will address delegates at lunch.
The day will also feature municipal success stories, roundtables to share ideas, updates on the Federation’s work, and the presentation of the Bruce H. Yeo Award to recognize an individual for outstanding contributions to municipal government.
