The Federation of Prince Edward Island Municipalities welcomes the federal government’s launch of the Build Communities Strong Fund and the support it will provide for local infrastructure.
“This funding will help municipalities build and maintain essential infrastructure — from water and wastewater systems to roads, recreation facilities, and community spaces — that Islanders rely on every day,” said FPEIM President Bruce MacDougall. “Investing in infrastructure supports housing, local economies, community safety, and quality of life.”
FPEIM is particularly pleased to see investment in the community stream, previously the Canada Community-Building Fund. Having a reliable, predictable, allocation-based funding mechanism helps ensure PEI municipalities of all sizes can access funding and support local infrastructure projects.
“We look forward to working with the federal and provincial governments to continue building strong and resilient communities across Prince Edward Island,” MacDougall said.
