The Federation of Prince Edward Island Municipalities (FPEIM) is encouraged to see provincial Throne Speech commitments to support the services and infrastructure delivered by PEI municipalities.
“Municipalities are vital partners in building local economies, managing growth, promoting public safety, and delivering services Islanders depend on every day,” said President Bruce MacDougall. “The provincial Throne Speech emphasizes that strong communities are the foundation of the future we are building. We couldn’t agree more.”
FPEIM is particularly pleased to see the following priorities:
- Work toward stable, predictable municipal funding
- Support for shared services
- Investments in public infrastructure, including water, wastewater, roads, public spaces, and community facilities
- Strengthened public safety, including continued support for the Joint Enforcement Team
- Investments in energy generation and storage
“We look forward to continuing to work with the Province to support resilient, safe, and healthy communities for Islanders,” MacDougall said.
