FPEIM to host leadership workshops with Gordon McIntosh

Gordon McIntosh, PhD & CLGM

The Federation of PEI Municipalities is offering workshops to help municipalities and non-profits align service expectations with capacity and develop positive relationships.

The workshops take place Thursday, June 5, at the Rodd Royalty, Charlottetown. Led by governance expert Gordon McIntosh, the sessions are ideal for mayors, councillors, municipal staff, non-profit leaders, and others who wish to learn more about organizational sustainability and effective governance. The two workshops include the following:

1:30-4:30 PM What’s in the Box? Aligning Service Expectations with Capacity

Organizational and service sustainability require creative strategies. The need to “right size” expenditures has never been more urgent. How do you garner creative ideas? Where do you find new revenue sources without marginalizing some users?

6:00-8:30 PM What’s Black & White & Grey All Over? Developing Positive Council/Staff Relations

Political/administrative alignment is critical to an organization’s success. Unfortunately, this relationship can be vulnerable to role confusion, unclear expectations, poor strategic direction, and lack of mutual confidence. The ability to navigate the “grey” is key to personal leadership and organizational success.

The cost is $50+HST for one workshop, or $75+HST for two. Light refreshments will be provided. Please register here. If you have questions about the sessions, please contact Lori at lmayne@fpeim.ca. We hope to see you there!

Gordon McIntosh, PhD & CLGM, is a former CAO for the 470 Gulf Islands in British Columbia and former president of BC’s Local Government Management Association. His research focuses on the political-administrative interface and CAO leadership role. He has delivered presentations and sessions to local, regional, Indigenous, and Métis governments and municipal associations and corporations throughout Canada and overseas.
