The provincial government issued a news release inviting Islanders to share their thoughts on how land use, ownership and planning can be improved in the province.
Islanders can visit Land Matters Project to provide input about land issues in PEI. This engagement is part of the Province’s review of the Lands Protection Act and Planning Act and input will be used to provide recommendations on changes to regulations and legislation.
Modernizing provincial land use policy has been a longstanding priority of the Federation. Several reports, some now decades old, have emphasized the importance and vulnerability of our land and made recommendations to strengthen land use policy. The most recent was the Report of the Task Force on Land Use Policy in 2014. The Task Force also released a consultation document in 2013, which identified several goals and objectives that remain relevant today.
