Congratulations to Elected Mayors and Councillors
Stronger Municipalities – Stronger Communities – Stronger Island!
November 5th, 2018 – Charlottetown, PEI – The Federation of Prince Edward Island Municipalities (FPEIM) congratulates all mayors and Councillors that have been elected and thanks everyone who put their name forward to run for council in the cities, towns and rural municipalities across the Island. To those who did not re-offer, the Federation extends special thanks for all the hard work you have done to make your municipality a better place to live and work.
Federation President Bruce MacDougall said he was delighted to see such strong interest from candidates, the public and the media. “Municipal services and infrastructure play such a vital role in building communities and neighbourhoods, so the level of engagement in this election is exciting.”
MacDougall said that the Federation and Department of Communities, Land and Environment have organized a training session for mayors and councilors to be held on December 1, in the Rural Municipality of North Shore. This will be a great opportunity for new and returning members of council to learn and network as they begin their term. “That’s when the real work begins” he said. “Being a member of council is a big commitment and it isn’t always easy,” he added, “but it’s also worthwhile and rewarding because you meet so many people and you really can make a difference.”
